Participating in classes
During your studies, you may experience a variety of class types.
- Lecture: large group classes which generally don't include much interaction. All lectures are recorded at ANU. Lectures are primarily focused on delivering the main content, ideas and theories related to the course.
- Tutorial: typically weekly classes where a small number of students meet with a tutor to discuss the topic for the week, work through problems and debates and discuss course readings. Tutorials assist you to explore, clarify and understand information that has been presented in lectures.
- Workshop & seminars: may combine lecture teaching with small group and interactive activities.
- Laboratory: focus on learning about and conducting experiments in small groups.
