Out of Session Conferral of Award
Students who have completed all program requirements can confer their ºÚÁÏÌìÌÃaward/s outside of the Semester 1 and Semester 2 graduation sessions; this process is referred to as Out of Session Conferral of Award.
To have an award conferred out of session, students must:
1. have no outstanding or interim course grades;
2. have no outstanding obligations to the University.
There are no costs associated with conferring an award out of session. Testamur/s will be posted to your nominated mailing address (domestic or international).
HDR Students
We do not confer awards on a case-by-case basis but in monthly Out-of-Session Conferral rounds scheduled for
- January (for students wanting to attend the February graduation celebration);
- February through May; and
- August through October
If your conferral aligns with the main conferral dates in July and December, you will be included alongside graduating coursework students.
If you confer Out-of-Session and wish to attend a graduation celebration in the future, you will need to register your intention by completing the ‘Application for Previously Graduated Student to Attend Graduation' (located under ‘Resources’) and emailing to the Graduation.Officer@anu.edu.au 3-5 months prior to the graduation celebration you wish to attend.
Once you have completed and submitted your Out-Of-Session conferral application, it can take 6-8 weeks before your award is processed and conferred. It can then take 5-7 business days for hardcopies to be posted, with delivery generally taking 3-5 days.
**Please note: Out of Session Conferrals only take place at certain times of the year. January; February through to May; and August through to October**
Applying for an Out of Session Conferral of Award
Step 1 - Download a copy of your statement of results
Download a copy of your statement of results via ISIS to confirm that all course grades have been finalised (if all grades are not finalised, please contact your ºÚÁÏÌìÌÃAcademic College before proceeding to Step Two).
Step 2 - Complete the Application for Out of Session Conferral form
Complete the Application for Out of Session Conferral form (available in Reference documents on this page).
Step 3 - Email the completed form
Email the completed form to graduation.officer@anu.edu.au.
Step 4 - Receive email confirmation from the Graduations Office
You will receive email confirmation from the Graduations Office acknowledging your application has been lodged.
Step 5 - Notification of Out of Session Conferral
Congratulations! You have been conferred. The Graduations Office will notify you via email when the process is complete, your hardcopy testamur has been posted, and your digital documents (Testamur, Academic Transcript and Australian Higher Education Gradaution Statement) are accessible via My eQuals.
